Forest School

At East Street Early Years we have our own Forest School Leader, Jemma Kerby, who is qualified to lead forest school sessions in a dedicated area of our garden for our early years children.

Forest school offers children regular opportunities to learn, achieve and develop their confidence through hands-on learning experiences in a natural outdoor environment. The principles of forest school are based around a range of learner-centred processes to encourage children to develop into resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. At forest school, children are given the opportunity to take supported risks, appropriate to the environment and to themselves, in order to gain confidence – for example by climbing and jumping, or toasting marshmallows over an open fire.
